My Personal Biography:
I grew up in Pennsylvania in the 50’s, the middle child of three. My grandparents and parents owned a local restaurant which specialized in quality, homemade food including making their own mayonnaise, salad dressings, bread, cakes, pies, ice cream, and spaghetti sauce to name a few items. It was here I learned the importance of fueling my body with high quality nutrients as evidenced by my grandfather who lived to be 103.
I attended college in the Midwest then moved to California in 1978 primarily due to the climate and healthy lifestyle that existed here. I moved to Marin in 1985 with my husband and first son and was drawn to the small town feel of San Anselmo. Raising our sons here with other working parents was like having a large extended family to depend on and enjoy.
Since moving to Marin in 1985 I have raised two sons here with their father and have taken an active role in their lives. I coached Boys Baseball as well as Boys Soccer in San Anselmo quite successfully with my brother. Our philosophy was to instill a level of self esteem, confidence and the importance of teamwork in the children that has been carried with them to this day according to their parents that I run into around the county.
My oldest son is a Cal graduate who lives and works in Marin while my youngest son is currently in college and lives at home when not in college. Both sons are very supportive of me in my pursuits in work and play, often joining me on the softball field for a game or two each year.
My interests and hobbies include hiking daily, playing co-ed softball, horseback riding, reading, music, drawing, meditating daily, cooking and of course, Giants baseball.
I initially attended Ohio University then later graduated from University of Illinois with a B.A. in Economics in 1975. When I first moved to California I spent almost 20 years in the Workers Compensation Insurance field as a field auditor pioneering the way for women in this field. Due to struggling with my own health issues during this time I was introduced to some Complimentary methods that helped restore me to optimal health. It was this experience and the desire to help others that lead me into the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine and energy medicine.
After completing some prerequisites at the College of Marin, I attended the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland where I earned a Masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1999. After completing this degree, I passed the California and National Board Exams and was officially licensed to practice Acupuncture and Herbology in the year 2000. I set up my practice in Marin in this year as well and have been here ever since.
My journey and interest in learning as much as possible to enable me to help others has introduced me to other modalities that complement my TCM degree including BioSET, Neuromodulation Technique, Neurolink, Emotional Freedom Technique and many others. I am certified in these techniques and use a unique combination with each client to help restore them to health.
In 2011 I received a Master Certification in Intuition Medicine® at the Academy of Intuition Medicine® in Sausalito. I am integrating this work into my practice as well, as it adds a dimension that is not currently addressed in the other techniques that I perform.
I am member of the San Anselmo Chamber of Commerce, Marin Professional Women’s Network, Healing Touch Professional Association as well as Acupuncture Associations including NCCAOM and CSOM.
