I grew up a pretty healthy person with no health problems. When I was in my early thirties I had a multitude of health issues including frequent headaches, muscle pain, joint pain, bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, acid reflux, depression and extreme fatigue. After visiting many doctors, I was given several different explanations for these symptoms but none of the doctors could determine any conclusive reason why I felt like I did.
Their diagnoses ranged from seasonal allergies to post-partum depression (my son was three and a half at the time) to “Stop running and exercising” to “You are just getting old, everybody feels like that” (I was in my mid-thirties at the time). You can imagine how frustrated I was, because I knew that how I felt wasn’t normal, and, more importantly, I knew that I didn’t want to feel like this the rest of my life.
Continuing the Search
I kept looking and visited some chiropractors, who did some muscle testing and determined that I had many food allergies and environmental allergies. Finally I had some hope. I started seeing a chiropractor who was doing allergy elimination at the time, and after several months of multiple treatments per week I started to experience what feeling normal was like.
I began to be able to differentiate what foods were causing the reactions and eliminate the allergic reaction. This method then incorporated allergy elimination, detoxification, and enzyme therapy, which brought me to another level of health.
A Series of Discoveries
Soon I found other healing techniques that enhanced my health even more and I also incorporated some lifestyle changes, including more meditation, cross-training instead of just running (which I had been doing for more than a decade), eating fewer processed foods, more whole foods, and organic vegetables, meat and poultry.
These changes took place over several years, so it was easier to incorporate them into my already overflowing life. My health and vitality continued to improve, my digestion grew stronger and I had fewer illnesses and allergic reactions to foods and environmental items.
Desire to Help Others
As my health began to improve I realized that I had to give back to others who were in my previous state of health. I knew too many people who suffered from the same or similar symptoms with no relief. I decided to leave my job in the insurance field and return to school to become an acupuncturist. It took me over 4 years to complete this task and become licensed but it was the beginning of really following my heart and do something meaningful with my life.
